A gold mine in South America produces hazardous chemicals that pose serious health risks to nearby indigenous communities and threaten the local water supply and rainforest.
The customer required a solution that not only treated the contaminated water but also endured the region’s extreme weather conditions. With the mining facility located three hours from the nearest airport, system reliability and remote accessibility were critical. Additionally, the rainy season brings up to 12 inches of rainfall per month, further complicating equipment protection.
While a standard NEMA 4X enclosure would typically be used to safeguard electrical components and instrumentation, this installation demanded a more robust solution. The engineering team developed a plan to house the water treatment equipment within a fully enclosed structure, ensuring durability, reliability, and seamless operation in the challenging environment.
