A manufacturer sought to integrate several novel flexible and portable independent pieces of equipment with the site automation system to encompass all aspects of Blending, Filling, Dispensing, Recipe Management, Inspection/Quality Control, and Scales. The equipment was connected to the Emerson Delta V system via a custom-designed and built 900 MGHZ wireless process network. The wireless process network was subsequently connected to the portable equipment via Modbus, Profibus, Serial ASCII, Ethernet, and traditional I/O.
